Apple Unveils MacBook Pro and Mac Mini... South Korea Release Date Undecided
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] On the 18th, Apple unveiled the MacBook Pro equipped with the next-generation system on chip (SoC) M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. This new model comes 1 year and 3 months after the previous release.
Equipped with the next-generation Apple Silicon M2 Pro and M2 Max, it offers improved power efficiency performance and battery life. The M2 chip is the successor to the SoC M1, which Apple developed in-house after using Intel central processing units (CPUs). The M2 Pro and M2 Max are enhanced versions of this.
It supports Wi-Fi 6E with connection speeds up to twice as fast as the previous generation and supports 8K displays. It showcases outstanding performance with a Liquid Retina XDR display, extensive connectivity, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a 6-speaker sound system, and studio-grade microphones. Additionally, it delivers an excellent user experience (UX) through macOS Ventura.
The MacBook Pro equipped with the M2 Pro features up to a 12-core CPU and a 19-core graphics processing unit (GPU). The model with the M2 Max is equipped with up to a 38-core GPU. Performance has improved by 30% compared to the M1 Max. Memory is available up to 96GB.
On the same day, Apple also unveiled the Mac mini equipped with the M2 and M2 Pro. The M2 model supports up to two displays, while the M2 Pro model supports up to three displays.
It offers next-generation CPUs and GPUs with faster speeds than the previous generation, expanded memory bandwidth, and a powerful media engine. Power efficiency has also been improved. The enhanced thermal management system continuously delivers breakthrough performance.
The new products can be ordered starting today in 27 countries including the United States. In second-wave release countries such as Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macao, and New Zealand, sales will begin on the 3rd of next month. The release date for Korea has not yet been confirmed.

Prices start at 2,790,000 KRW for the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 3,490,000 KRW for the 16-inch model. The Mac mini starts at 850,000 KRW for the M2 model and 1,790,000 KRW for the M2 Pro model.
