Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Delivers Hot Pack Scarves for Environmental Officers
Hot Pack Scarf Design Filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Office; Plans to Utilize as Mapo Tourism and Cultural Product
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) has attracted attention by holding a ceremony to deliver ‘hot pack scarves’ for environmental workers (street cleaners) who start cleaning the streets at 5 a.m. to maintain a pleasant urban environment despite the biting cold.
Notably, the delivered hot pack scarves are not off-the-shelf products but were personally designed and produced by Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu Office to help environmental workers stay warmer while working amid the ongoing severe cold wave, drawing public interest.
Mayor Park Gang-su encouraged the staff by personally putting the ‘hot pack scarves’ on the environmental workers, saying, “This winter feels colder than ever before,” and “Thank you for quietly fulfilling your duties behind the scenes for the residents.”
Mr. A, who attended the delivery ceremony, said, “I was surprised to hear that the hot pack scarves were personally designed and produced by the mayor rather than being commercial products,” and added, “We environmental workers will also keep the residents in mind and work harder to create a more pleasant street environment.”
Meanwhile, Mapo-gu is proceeding with a design application (registration) with the Korean Intellectual Property Office to protect the intellectual property rights of the ‘hot pack scarf’ designed and produced by Mayor Park Gang-su and to produce and utilize it as a Mapo tourism and cultural product in the future.
