The Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police for Public Welfare has prepared the "2023 Basic Investigation Directions and Major Investigation Plans by Sector," which includes these details.
The special judicial police will first expand investigations into environmental pollution and waste sectors that have high social interest, such as illegal fine dust emissions from businesses in the province, illegal discharge of wastewater, illegal handling of hazardous substances, and illegal waste disposal.
In addition, to realize the value of respecting life through harmonious coexistence between humans and animals and to establish a fair medical order, investigations into animal abuse acts such as illegal dog slaughter, and illegal medical institutions including office-run hospitals and pharmacies will be conducted throughout the year.
Although delivery food has declined since the lifting of COVID-19 social distancing measures, online food transactions and camping demand continue to increase, so safety nets will also be strengthened to ensure safe food supply.
Illegal activities related to the distribution of edible eggs, illegal distribution of eco-friendly certified agricultural products, and illegal processing and distribution of livestock products for camping will also be monitored.
The special judicial police will continuously and proactively investigate illegal activities in "rivers and valleys," "seas," and "mountain areas" to create a clean Gyeonggi Province. Major targets include illegal forest damage, and crackdowns on natural destruction in development-restricted zones, rivers, and valleys.
Furthermore, in the field of public safety, crackdowns will be conducted on illegal acts in fire safety and public hygiene sectors, such as false installation of fire prevention facilities including smoke control equipment, illegal activities in pesticide and fertilizer production and sales businesses, and illegal lodging operations in officetels.
Hong Eun-gi, head of the Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police for Public Welfare, stated, "To create a happy and safe Gyeonggi Province where people live well together, we will strengthen crackdowns on illegal activities, focusing mainly on large-scale businesses. We will not neglect crime prevention publicity such as providing guidance on investigation sectors and announcing ongoing investigations."
He added, "Illegal acts detected despite sufficient prior guidance and publicity will be strictly punished according to law and principles."
