Teenager Causes Pedestrian Death While Driving Without License and Drowsy... "Passenger Also Booked"
[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] Following a teenage driver who caused the death of a pedestrian while driving without a license in Gongju, Chungnam, the passenger is also set to be investigated by the police.
The Gongju Police Department announced on the 16th that they have booked and are investigating A, the passenger, on charges of aiding and abetting unlicensed driving.
According to the police, on the 4th, driver B dropped off A in Daejeon, and later that day at around 9:34 a.m., while driving drowsily in front of the Gongju Shingwan-dong intercity bus terminal, he hit and killed a pedestrian in his 20s.
The police believe that before B dropped A off in Daejeon, they were riding together in a passenger car rented through a car-sharing platform.
Driver B has been booked on charges of negligent homicide under the Special Act on Traffic Accident and unlicensed driving.
Police investigations revealed that B violated traffic signals and crossed the center line. It was also found that B was speeding over the 30 km/h speed limit in the accident area.

The police plan to apply for a pre-arrest warrant as the driver is still receiving medical treatment and will continue the investigation into the passenger as well.
