Seoul Social Service Institute Installs Fire Safety Detectors for Elderly Living Alone
Seodaemun Comprehensive Home Care Center, Related Projects Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Seodaemun Comprehensive Home Care Center, affiliated with the Seoul Social Service Institute, announced on the 17th that it will carry out a project to install residential fire safety facilities to protect elderly people living alone from fire hazards during the winter season.
The "Fire Safety Service for Elderly Living Alone" is a project that installs residential standalone smoke detectors in households of elderly people living alone who have mobility difficulties and are vulnerable to fire during winter, and provides fire safety information. The residential standalone smoke detector detects fire through smoke and, although it is a minimal fire safety device, it plays a very important role by sounding an alarm for 10 minutes with a built-in sound device to enable early fire detection.
This project is carried out at the request of the Seodaemun Fire Station. While providing care services, the center selects elderly people living in environments with a high risk of fire due to insufficient fire safety facilities, and sequentially installs residential fire safety facilities in 40 selected households by the end of February.
In addition, the center will provide fire safety education, including evacuation methods and fire prevention measures, to the elderly who received the installation service, and the fire station will conduct follow-up management and safety support for the installed households.
