Busan Gijang-gun Begins Construction of 'Icheon Port Breakwater Installation'
Minimizing Natural Disaster Damage and Creating Safe Fishing Port Facilities
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) will commence the 'Icheon Port Breakwater Installation Project' in the Icheon-ri area of Ilgwang-eup on the 13th.
Icheon Port is a fishing village residential port adjacent to tourist facilities such as Ilgwang Beach and Ilgwangcheon Trail. Although the number of visitors is increasing due to the influx of population from the new town and rising tourism demand, the extension of the outer facility breakwater is insufficient, causing frequent damage to port facilities and nearby villages during typhoons, heavy rains, and tidal waves.
Accordingly, Gijang-gun secured a total project cost of 4 billion KRW, including 700 million KRW in special grants in the first half of 2022 and 1.2 billion KRW in special adjustment grants in 2022, and has begun to actively promote the breakwater extension installation project.

The main project details include the installation of 688 T.T.P. (10.0t) units for the breakwater extension (L=90m). Through this, the goal is to minimize damage from natural disasters, secure calm water within the port, and create safe and pleasant port facilities.
