Moon Hee-sang: "Yoon, who doesn't meet Lee Jae-myung, lacks basic human decency"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol for not holding a summit meeting with Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for over six months, saying it shows a lack of basic human decency.
On the 13th, on MBC's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' former Speaker Moon said, "It goes against the presumption of innocence and the Constitution. He is someone who lost by a narrow margin, yet he is not even treated with the basic respect due to a defeated candidate. It is a matter of basic human decency."
He added, "Among all the past presidents, I have never seen one who refuses to engage in dialogue with the opposition like this," and said, "Six months have already passed. Even former President Moon Jae-in was criticized for not engaging in dialogue, but he met with all five opposition parties immediately after becoming president. There was no president who did not meet with the opposition, including Park Geun-hye and Lee Myung-bak."
He continued, "The president is supposed to be involved in politics," and pointed out, "For politicians, politics is a more important task than governance, but the economy and national security are heading toward the worst state and being driven in that direction."
Regarding Lee's announcement on the 'four-year two-term constitutional amendment,' he said, "Now, I feel that Lee Jae-myung has returned to his true self and the demeanor befitting the leader of the main opposition party, so I evaluate the press conference itself positively," adding, "Although it is somewhat late, it is not too late."

However, President Yoon is drawing a line on the constitutional amendment. He said, "If this binary politics continues, to put it bluntly, it will lead to a situation where everyone loses," and added, "If there is no agreement on electoral district reform or constitutional amendment now, this politics will continue as a life-or-death struggle."
