Mokpo City Undergoes Organizational Restructuring to Foster '4 Major Key Industries'
Personnel Changes in the First Half of the Year, Assigned to Job Series Matching Duties
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Mokpo City, Jeonnam, carried out a regular personnel reshuffle for the first half of 2023 along with an organizational restructuring on the 12th.
According to the city on the 12th, the organizational restructuring focused on fostering the four major key industries of the 8th elected administration’s core pledges: youth policy, the 4th industrial revolution, ship repair and shipbuilding industry and eco-friendly ship industry, seafood food industry, and tourism industry.
To this end, a Youth Population Division was newly established to exclusively handle youth policies, and the Great Mokpo Planning Team for the integration of the Muan Peninsula and the attraction of a medical school, as well as the National Sports Festival Promotion Team for the successful hosting of the 2023 National Sports Festival, were each reorganized into formal organizational units.
In addition, to flexibly respond to future growth industries and new administrative demands, the city reinforced and adjusted functions by adding the Smart Information Division, Fisheries Industry Division, Sports Industry Division, Public Relations Division, Climate Environment Division, Urban Design Division, Health Policy Division, and Talent Development Division.
This personnel reshuffle, effective from the 16th, involves about 500 people including 106 promotions due to meritorious retirement and honorary retirement, 9 promotion approvals, 369 transfers, and 32 new appointments.
By rank, the promotions include 3 at grade 4, 9 at grade 5, 22 at grade 6, and 102 below grade 7, totaling 136 people.
In particular, the promotions were evenly distributed without bias toward specific job series, providing opportunities to minority job series, while assigning personnel to appropriate job series that match the nature of their work to strengthen expertise.
