[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] LG Electronics' OLED evo has been selected as the best TV in Japan.
On the 12th, LG Electronics announced that the LG OLED evo (model name: C2) received the Gold Award, the highest prize in the 50-60 inch and under 45 inch OLED TV categories, respectively, at the 'VGP (Visual GrandPrix) 2023' awards hosted by Ongen Publishing, one of Japan's most prestigious AV specialized media outlets. At the same time, it also won the Special Critics' Award in the video category.
Regarding the LG OLED evo (model name: 42C2), VGP praised it as "a premium TV that offers the best immersion and allows you to fully enjoy the delicate and three-dimensional images expressed by 4K OLED TV," adding, "It boasts top-level picture quality based on overwhelming contrast and black expression, as well as excellent convenience features such as support for four HDMI 2.1 ports."
The VGP awards are given based on evaluations of product technology and consumer satisfaction by a judging panel composed of AV experts and electronic store dealers who directly interact with customer feedback.
The LG OLED evo (model name: 42C2) was previously selected as the best product in the under 50-inch OLED TV category at the 'Best Buy Winter 2022' by HiVi, one of Japan's most authoritative AV specialized media outlets, and subsequently won the Silver Award at the 'HiVi Grand Prix 2022.'
HiVi praised, "LG Electronics, as the originator of OLED TVs, offers a diverse lineup that combines picture quality, ease of use, and beautiful design. In particular, the LG OLED evo delivered image quality that far surpasses all other 42-inch OLED TVs introduced by other manufacturers last year."
In Japan, a premium TV market with a high preference for OLED, the LG OLED evo, the world's smallest 42-inch model, consecutively being recognized as the best product over local Japanese companies known as traditional TV powerhouses, signifies recognition of LG Electronics' unique OLED technology leadership that realizes differentiated picture quality and design.
Recently, LG Electronics has accelerated technological differentiation by launching the bendable gaming OLED TV, LG OLED Flex, in Japan. This aims to provide new customer experiences and value by emphasizing the innovative form factor and overwhelming picture quality of LG OLED TVs. Market research firm Omdia forecasts that OLED's sales share in the Japanese TV market will exceed 30% for the first time this year.
