Super Mega Jackpot of 1.4 Trillion Won... Time to Buy US Lottery Tickets
One of the Two Major US Lotteries, 'Mega Millions'
No Jackpot Winner for 3 Months, Prize Rolls Over
Along with 'Powerball,' one of the two major lotteries in the United States, the 'Mega Millions' jackpot has grown to approximately 1.4 trillion won as no first prize winner has emerged.
According to the Mega Millions website on the 10th (local time), the first prize jackpot increased from $940 million (1.1731 trillion won) a week ago to $1.1 billion (1.3728 trillion won).

This is because no first prize winner has been drawn for the past three months, causing the jackpot to roll over. Mega Millions holds two draws per week, and if there is no first prize winner, the amount rolls over, increasing the jackpot.
Previously, the first prize jackpot in U.S. lottery history exceeded $1 billion (1.248 trillion won) four times, making this the fifth largest jackpot ever. Last November, the Powerball lottery recorded the largest jackpot ever at $2.04 billion (2.5459 trillion won).
The Mega Millions jackpot can be received either as an annuity over about 29 years or as a lump sum. If a first prize winner is drawn in the drawing held at 11 p.m. Eastern Time on this day, the estimated lump sum payout will be $568.7 million (709.7 billion won).
The Mega Millions lottery requires selecting 5 numbers from 1 to 70, then choosing 1 additional number from 1 to 25. To win the first prize, all 6 numbers must match. The odds are roughly 1 in 300 million, so it is common for no winner to be drawn.
