Lee Jae-myung "Abuse of Public Power for Private Gain"... Criticism of the 'Prosecutor Political Situation'
Export Crisis Pointed Out at Incheon Field Meeting
"Protecting You Is Protecting Lee Jae-myung"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, indirectly criticized the prosecution's investigation against him, saying, "Maintaining a fair order is the government's duty, but now a wrong world has opened where public power is abused for private interests."
On the afternoon of the 11th, he visited Moraenae Market in Incheon and took the stage, saying, "Is it possible that I will be subjected to a tax investigation for saying this? Is it possible that I will be arrested for saying something like this? A society where people self-censor themselves, wondering if it is okay to say such things, has returned," expressing his concerns.
Recently, as the prosecution has tightened its investigation net around him, he launched a counterattack by pointing out issues such as the current administration's 'prosecutorial dictatorship,' as well as economic and security incompetence.
Additionally, he pointed out the current livelihood and economic crisis. Lee said, "Livelihood is this difficult. Isn't the reason we pay taxes and entrust authority to manage the country's affairs to solve these problems?" He criticized the current administration's incompetence, saying, "Did we elect a king? We elected workers and servants."
He continued, "Exports are declining, exchange rates are fluctuating wildly, and growth rates are falling. Isn't the reason we engage in politics to recover growth, overcome crises, and eliminate market instability?" He emphasized, "To improve livelihoods, we must support the many who are struggling and restrain the vested interests of the few who gain excessive profits for the economy to truly revive."
Earlier, at the 'On-site Meeting to Check the Trade Deficit Export Situation' held at Incheon New Port, Lee met with trade officials and said, "Exports, which have been the core driving force of Korea's compressed economic growth, are currently very unstable," highlighting the worsening economic crisis this year. He added, "There is concern that our exports may struggle with a structural deficit in the future."
On the same day, Lee also criticized the government's 'security incompetence.' He said, "An administration truly incompetent in national security has appeared," and added, "North Korea's unmanned aerial vehicles flew freely over Seoul's sky for more than five hours without being detected," questioning, "If a war breaks out, how will we handle the damage of countless deaths and total destruction?"
