Gwangju City to Operate Yeongnak and Mangwol Parks Normally from January 21 to 24 During Lunar New Year Holiday
Yeongnak Park Ancestral Ritual Room Closure and Prohibition of Food Consumption
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Ki-jung) announced on the 10th that the municipal cemeteries Yeongnak and Mangwol Parks will operate normally during the Lunar New Year holiday from the 21st to the 24th.
The municipal cemeteries had been partially closed during four holiday periods since Chuseok 2020 due to COVID-19 but have been operating normally since last year's Chuseok holiday.
However, to prevent infectious diseases such as COVID-19, the Yeongnak Park ritual hall will be closed and food consumption will be prohibited.
During this period, for visitors who cannot enter the indoor memorial hall at Yeongnak Park, promotion will be conducted through text messages, banners, and the official website to encourage the use of online memorial and visitation services provided by the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "Funeral Information System."
Online memorial and visitation can be accessed via the Gwangju city website or portal sites by entering the "Funeral Information System," where users can offer flowers, write messages, set up ancestral rites tables, write memorial tablets, and share on social networking services (SNS).
