Strict Law Enforcement and Intelligence Gathering on Illegal Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Ahead of the 3rd Nationwide Simultaneous Suhyup Cooperative President Election on March 8, the Sokcho Maritime Police Station will conduct a special crackdown on election-related crimes from the 12th to March 17.
According to Sokcho Maritime Police on the 8th, a joint investigation and intelligence task force has been formed to strengthen intelligence gathering on election-related crimes, and the number of personnel in the investigation task force has been increased to intensively crack down on election offenders.
The main targets are ▲'money election' offenders who provide money or entertainment ▲'false election' offenders who spread false information or slander candidates ▲illegal election interference ▲election campaigning outside the official campaign period.
A Sokcho Maritime Police official stated, "We will conduct crime prevention activities against illegal pre-election campaigning, strengthen intelligence gathering and criminal activities related to this, and strictly enforce the law upon discovering illegal acts to create a fair election atmosphere."

Meanwhile, during the 1st and 2nd Suhyup Cooperative President Elections, maritime police nationwide uncovered a total of 88 election-related crime cases. Among them, there were 37 'money election' cases, 9 'false election' cases, and 42 other election-related offenses.
