Hawaii, Second Volcano Eruption in a Month... This Time Kilauea Volcano
The summit crater of Kilauea, an active volcano in Hawaii, USA, began erupting lava on the 5th (local time). The United States Geological Survey (USGS) explained that this volcano resumed activity in less than a month. Kilauea, with an elevation of 1,222 meters, is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and has been erupting almost continuously since 1983. [Image source=AP Yonhap News]

According to the AP and other sources on the 5th (local time), Kilauea volcano started erupting lava from its summit crater around 4:35 PM that day. However, since the crater is located within a national park and away from residential areas, the lava is not currently threatening residents.
Lava is spurting from multiple fountains at the crater, and the tallest lava column reaches about 10 meters, explained the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The amount of volcanic gas emitted along with the lava is also increasing. The volcanic gas includes toxic substances such as sulfur dioxide.
Earlier, the USGS detected signs of magma moving beneath the volcano's summit and issued an alert. After the eruption began, the alert level was raised to "Warning" following a risk assessment.
Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and has been erupting continuously since September 2021. Another active volcano in Hawaii, Mauna Loa, resumed erupting at the end of November last year for the first time in 38 years, releasing lava until early December.
