BPA Designated as 'Excellent New Logistics Technology' for Port Crane Rail Technology
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] The Busan Port Authority (BPA) has recently had its patented technology, the ‘Composite Sole Plate and Replaceable Rail Clip Fastening Device for Port Crane Rails,’ designated as an ‘Excellent Logistics New Technology’ (Logistics New Technology) by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
The Logistics New Technology designation system evaluates logistics technologies that are either newly developed domestically for the first time or imported and improved from abroad, assessing their novelty, economic feasibility, and field applicability to designate them as new logistics technologies.
This system certifies logistics new technologies developed by the private sector and provides administrative and financial support for the certified technologies to promote the development and dissemination of logistics new technologies.
The logistics new technology developed by BPA was created for the efficient maintenance of crane rails within ports.
The technology reduces construction time by more than half and lowers construction costs when maintenance work is carried out on related components such as rails and clips supporting crane equipment, which face issues like subsidence and lateral displacement.
BPA expects that this logistics new technology will enable efficient maintenance for similar issues in the future.
BPA has promoted prototype production and pilot implementation of the developed technology and confirmed its constructability by applying it to three wharfs within Busan Port.
The technology is also planned to be applied to two privately operated wharfs, and with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ designation as a new technology, the spread of this technology is expected to accelerate further.
