SK Hynix announced on the 30th that it held the 4th SV Creation Excellence Case Festival. Since 2019, SK Hynix has formed DBL Practice Teams in four sectors: ▲Manufacturing & Technology ▲DRAM Development ▲Package & Test (P&T) ▲Package (PKG) Development, and has been holding an annual SV Festival at the end of each year to discover outstanding cases. The DBL Practice Teams are SV-dedicated organizations formed by sector to practice SV creation and discover related cases.
At this event, SK Hynix selected four best cases. In the Manufacturing & Technology sector, the case of reducing greenhouse gas and nitrogen oxide emissions in the factory by applying a new material (gas) in the etching process, led by Shin Beomjun, Etch Technology Strategy TL, was selected.
In the DRAM Development sector, the case of developing a new probe card, led by Kim Taehun, PE Research Lab TL, was selected. A probe card is a tool used in the semiconductor wafer testing process. It is used to send current to chips formed on the wafer to verify if they operate normally.
In the P&T sector, the case of developing new equipment with a partner company that reduced the area of ultra-high-speed high-bandwidth memory (HBM) manufacturing equipment to improve space efficiency and chip productivity was selected. This was introduced by Moon Gitae, WLP Technology TL. SK Hynix stated that the newly developed equipment saved an investment cost of 20.1 billion KRW.
In the PKG Development sector, the case of improving package process efficiency and reducing power consumption and carbon emissions based on new materials, introduced by Kim Miyoung, PKG Material Development TL, was selected. This is related to omitting the PCO process, which removes the space occurring between chips or between chips and substrates.
