The final report meeting was attended by about 100 volunteer-related personnel, including the Director of the Administrative Autonomy Bureau of the city, the head of the Busan Volunteer Center as the commissioning agency, employees of district and county volunteer centers, members of the Busan Volunteer 4.0 Policy Group, and volunteers, amid growing interest from the volunteer community in the volunteer bank.
This research service was the first step to establish a smooth foundation for the "Establishment and Operation of a Blockchain-Based Volunteer Bank," a pledge of the 8th term Busan mayor, focusing on establishing the vision and mid- to long-term implementation plan (roadmap) of the volunteer bank and developing a volunteer bank model to lay the foundation for a leading volunteer city.
The core of the research, the "blockchain-based volunteer bank," is a platform where volunteers can convert their volunteer activities into points and exchange them online, breaking away from the traditional one-sided role distinction between volunteers and beneficiaries, enabling mutually beneficial and reciprocal volunteering.
Additionally, by integrating blockchain technology, it is expected to enhance transparency, reliability, and security compared to existing systems.
The final report meeting proceeded with the main research content explanation by Professor Choi Eui-su, the principal researcher of the research performing institution, Silla University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, followed by ▲ project progress report ▲ final research results report on the volunteer bank ▲ Q&A and free discussion with experts from various fields.
Based on the results of this research service, Busan City plans to build the "Volunteer Bank Platform" in 2023 and aims to gradually advance the system from 2024 to 2026.
