Gurye-gun Hosts New Year's Sunrise Event for Yeonghonam Residents Together
Joint Event Held at Namdo Bridge, a Symbol of Yeonghonam Harmony
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold the ‘2023 Yeonghonam Hanmadang Sunrise Event’ to pray for the well-being of the residents and the harmony between Yeongnam and Honam regions on January 1, 2023, at 7 a.m. at Namdo Bridge, marking the year of the Black Rabbit in 2023 (Gyemyo Year, 癸卯年).
This sunrise event will take place at the meeting place plaza in the middle of Namdo Bridge, which connects Uncheon-ri, Ganjeon-myeon, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do and Tap-ri, Hwagae-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. It is a New Year’s sunrise event for residents of Yeongnam and Honam, jointly hosted by the Ganjeon-myeon Youth Association (President Kim Heesoo) and the Tap-ri Village Youth Association of Hwagae-myeon (President Lee Wonki).
On the first day of the new year, the event will begin with a pungmul performance carrying a message of hope to mark a vigorous start to the new year, followed by a New Year’s ritual, rice cake cake cutting ceremony, and food sharing event.
Additionally, attendees including residents and tourists will participate in a wish ribbon hanging event, writing their wishes for the new year 2023 on ribbons.
A Gurye-gun official said, “This sunrise event will be organized with thorough safety management to prevent accidents and a well-prepared program. We will do our best to prepare so that everyone can start the new year of 2023 meaningfully and create beautiful memories.”
