"Expensive Car Repair" Shooting... US Mechanic Dies Over 630,000 Won Dispute
Dispute Over $500 Truck Repair Fee
Groups Gather, Forcing Victim to Kneel Before Shooting
An auto mechanic in Houston, Texas, USA, was fatally shot following an argument with a customer over a $500 repair bill (approximately 630,000 KRW).
According to ABC13 and other sources on the 28th (local time), Houston mechanic Luis Manuel Casiyas (29) was found with a gunshot wound in a parking lot on the 23rd. Casiyas was transported to the hospital due to his injuries but ultimately passed away. At the time, he had finished work and planned to shop for Christmas gifts for his children.
His sister, Sandy Casiyas, stated that witnesses told her he had argued with a customer who had left a truck for repair. Casiyas had charged the customer $500 after fixing the truck, but the customer refused to pay and left. The customer later returned to the shop with five other men, still upset about paying the repair fee. As the argument continued, Casiyas told the customer to take the truck and leave, but the situation turned violent.

Sandy Casiyas said, "Luis started running," adding, "He ran as far and as fast as he could. But they eventually caught up to Luis and shot him in the head at very close range. They forced Luis to kneel and then shot him in the head." When caught, Luis reportedly pleaded, "I have a family. Take whatever you want," begging for his life, but the perpetrators ignored him and opened fire.
The family gathered at the crime scene on Christmas Day, demanding that those responsible for killing Casiyas be held accountable. Sandy Casiyas said, "Santa was coming with Dad. Santa showed up, but Dad did not," adding, "We no longer have holidays. We don’t know what holidays are anymore." She also said, "If this case is left unsolved, I will be cursed," and added, "Luis will get justice."

The suspect’s name has not been released, but the family believes they know who is responsible and have informed the police. The deceased mechanic’s brother, Jose Casiyas, said, "Luis was talking about that customer the day before he died, and I saw screenshots of him talking with the customer." Authorities are investigating the case and are searching for surveillance footage capturing the shooting.
