Yongin City Forms 'Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Committee'
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, established the 'Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Committee' on the 28th, which will serve as a think tank for fostering the semiconductor industry.
The committee is composed of a total of 14 members, including the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Yongin City and one appointed member as co-chairpersons, along with related departments, city council members, semiconductor-related businesspeople, professors, and experts, in accordance with the 'Yongin City Semiconductor Industry Fostering and Support Ordinance,' the first of its kind enacted by a basic local government nationwide.
The term of office for committee members is two years. The committee will provide advice on ▲ the establishment and implementation of the comprehensive plan and action plan for fostering the semiconductor industry in Yongin City ▲ various matters related to policies and support for fostering the semiconductor industry ▲ and other matters related to the semiconductor industry referred to the meeting by the chairperson.
Yongin City will hold the first 'Yongin City Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Committee' meeting in January next year, appoint committee members, and elect co-chairpersons. Additionally, discussions will be held on the establishment of the 'Yongin City Semiconductor Industry Fostering Comprehensive Plan,' a four-year plan for fostering the semiconductor industry in Yongin City.

Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, stated, "To foster the semiconductor industry, we judged that it is necessary to receive advice from individuals with a high level of understanding of advanced technology and expertise, so we have gathered excellent people as committee members."
