The Wonju City Hall union announced on the 28th that it filed a complaint with the Wonju Police Station against six individuals, including the former Gangwon Regional Head of Jeongongno and the new emergency committee chairperson of the Wonju branch, on charges of "obstruction of business by intimidation."
Through the complaint, the city hall union claimed, "Jeongongno unilaterally approved a new emergency committee without representative authority, which disrupted the staff communication committee activities promoted by the existing emergency committee in the third quarter of last year and obstructed a member survey on the future direction of the labor union's operations."
They added, "Since withdrawing from Jeongongno on August 24 last year, we have been persistently harassed through two retaliatory criminal complaints (obstruction of business and embezzlement), injunctions to nullify general meetings in the first and second trials, and main lawsuits over one year and four months," and "this also violated Jeongongno's regulations that specify the rights to protection as union members."
Regarding the background of this complaint, they explained, "It originated from Jeongongno ignoring the demands for recurrence prevention measures requested to resolve the resentment of union members triggered by the intrusion, property damage, and physical clashes caused by the Construction Union under Minjunochong at the city hall on March 13 and 15 last year."
The city hall union stated, "To counter the typical harassment and tyranny of a large union, we plan to meet with members of the National Assembly's Environment and Labor Committee in January next year to urge legislation for a law to prevent harassment by large vested-interest unions."
