Former Governor Kim was serving time for the Druking comment manipulation case during the last presidential election and was released after about 520 days of imprisonment due to a special pardon by the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.
He said, "I wanted to come out in the warm spring, but I ended up coming out in the cold winter," and added, "Receiving a pardon is like being forced to accept an unwanted gift."
"During the time I was cut off from the world, I thought a lot and reflected on many things," he said. "I will reflect with a humble attitude and make efforts so that this time of reflection can serve as fertilizer for our society to become warmer through dialogue, compromise, and social agreement."
