Goseong-gun to Provide 1.08 Million KRW Monthly Salary Support for Childcare Staff Starting Next Year
Increase in Assistant Teacher Salary Amount per Daycare Center
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province will increase the personnel expenses for childcare staff by 1.08 million KRW per daycare center starting next year.
Since 2015, Goseong-gun has seen 13 daycare centers close due to a sharp decline in birth rates and population outflow, and the number of daycare centers with less than 50% enrollment rate is gradually increasing.
The rapid decrease in infants and toddlers not only leads to insufficient class formation but also results in daycare center closures, which could severely deteriorate the childcare environment for the remaining children.
In response, since 2021, the county has been implementing a personnel expense support project for childcare staff to improve the childcare environment, stabilize employment for daycare workers, and guarantee the rights of infants, toddlers, and their guardians to choose from various daycare centers. As of December, 145.72 million KRW has been paid to 16 daycare centers.

Kim Hyun-joo, Director of the Education and Youth Division, stated, “Due to social issues such as low birth rates, rural daycare centers are facing the risk of closure.
