'Pro-Roh' Jeon Jae-su: "Kim Kyung-su Can Engage in Intra-Party Politics"
Democratic Party Lawmaker, SBS Radio Interview
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 28th at midnight, regarding the possibility of former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo's political activities within the party after being released through a special pardon, Jeon Jae-soo, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who is also classified as 'PK Pro-Roh' along with him, stated that it is "possible."
On the 28th, Jeon said on SBS's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' in response to a related question, "The urgent thing right now is to rest the body and mind."
Although the pardoned former Governor Kim is not reinstated and cannot run for public office until May 2028, there are expectations that he will play a certain role within the Democratic Party. Jeon said, "Taking care of the body and mind comes first," adding, "Predictions and analyses can be made, but you are getting ahead of yourself," and refrained from further comment.
He also analyzed that the intention behind this pardon is not 'national unity' but 'ruling party unity.' He said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol is surrounded by close aides of former President Lee Myung-bak, so the intention is to unify the People Power Party," and criticized, "Regardless of political camps, the president should strive to become the president of all the people, but even if it does not go well, there is no effort at all."
Park Joo-min, a member of the same party, also viewed former Governor Kim's political prospects within the party positively. On BBS's 'Jeon Young-shin's Morning Journal,' he predicted, "He could play a very diverse range of roles."

Park said, "First of all, he still receives considerable support in the Yeongnam region, so he could play a regional role, and policy-wise, he has shown outstanding capabilities in areas such as local autonomy and the megacity concept related to local decentralization, so he could also take on such policy roles."
