Seoul City Actively Supports Eco-Friendly Green Companies... Online Sales Up 43% Year-on-Year
This Year's Green Products Online Promotion Achieves Sales of Over 630 Million Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 28th that it has achieved results such as increased online sales compared to last year by actively supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (including prospective startups) possessing excellent green technologies and products this year to expand the green industry base.
From August to November, Seoul held three online green product exhibitions under the theme "Good Consumption Festival to Protect the Earth" (twice on Gmarket and once on Auction), achieving a 43% increase in sales compared to the previous year.
Seoul also doubled the scale of its "Corporate Investment Briefing Advisory (IR Consulting) and Investment Consultation" to enhance the investment attraction capabilities of green SMEs so that they can grow into global companies.
Additionally, Seoul conducted corporate evaluation support (ESG, technology, credit sectors) to strengthen the capabilities of SMEs in the green industry sector, promoting the commercialization of excellent technologies and fostering a technology-based ecosystem.
Moreover, the Green Industry Support Center continuously supported the realization of product manufacturing ideas for green SMEs through the Green Tech Shop facilities and 3D printing equipment staffed by 3D printing specialists.
Furthermore, various support projects were carried out, including about 90 consultations in specialized fields desired by SMEs and prospective startups, and the publication of over 20 issues of green industry newsletters, helping to cultivate expertise related to management and technological capabilities that might otherwise be lacking and to enhance understanding of the green industry.
Seoul plans to conduct satisfaction surveys among participating companies to promote support projects that are more tangible to businesses and reflect the results in next year’s plans to implement support measures that provide more practical assistance to companies.
In addition, support measures will be provided to young entrepreneurs to help them gain a competitive edge in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management fields through corporate consulting and business expansion consultations. A new green enterprise startup fund (fund) worth 20 billion KRW will be established with a 2 billion KRW investment to directly support the growth of green ventures and SMEs.
