As More People Prefer Home-Cooked Meals... Homeplus Online Sees a Surge in Frozen Food Sales
Donkatsu, Tangsuyuk, and Tteokgalbi Sales Increase by 88%
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Amid the ongoing high inflation, the number of 'budget home meal enthusiasts' purchasing frozen foods and frozen convenience meals is increasing.
According to an analysis of online customer consumption data by Homeplus on the 27th, sales of frozen foods such as pork cutlet, sweet and sour pork, and grilled short rib patties increased by 88% compared to the same period last year from the 1st to the 19th of this month, while frozen convenience meals such as frozen rice, soup, stew, and pizza grew by 87%. This is attributed to the expansion of frugal consumption trends like the 'No Spending Challenge' and 'Eating Up the Refrigerator,' leading more customers to seek foods that can be stored for a long time.
Homeplus is conducting a large-scale sale event called the 'Homeplus Crisis' promotion until the 4th of next month, offering up to 50% discounts on popular food items to help reduce grocery expenses.
