Yang Seongho, Go Yungseong, and Oh Jihyeok Awarded 'Proud Jeju Police'

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Police Agency announced on the 26th that it held the 18th ‘Proud Jeju Police’ awards ceremony.

The Proud Jeju Police event selects three individuals each quarter who have made significant contributions such as important criminal arrests, inspiring public safety cases, and unsung internal workers to promote social trust and respect for the police.

At the event, Sergeant Yang Seongho of the Anti-Corruption Economic Crime Investigation Unit at Jeju Police Agency, Sergeant Go Yungseong of the Criminal Investigation Team 4 at Seogwipo Police Station, and Police Officer Oh Jihyeok of the Security Foreign Affairs Team 3 at the Airport Police Unit were honored as Proud Jeju Police.

Sergeant Yang Seongho of the Anti-Corruption Economic Crime Investigation Unit at Jeju Police Agency said, “I will do my best to track down and arrest criminals threatening the local economy so that residents can feel safe.”

His major achievements include contributing to regional public safety by arresting a foreign car fraud ring responsible for numerous victims and large financial damages, as well as suspects involved in a large-scale casino embezzlement case.

Sergeant Go Yungseong, head of Criminal Investigation Team 4 at Seogwipo Police Station, said, “I will become a reliable police officer living among the residents to create a safe Jeju free from violent crimes.”

His key achievements include contributing to public safety by actively conducting criminal investigations, arresting 45 suspects during the 2022 intensive crackdown period on robbery and theft, and being selected as the best detective.

Police Officer Oh Jihyeok of the Security Foreign Affairs Team 3 at the Airport Police Unit said, “As a police officer, it is something I should naturally do, but I am grateful to receive an award,” and added, “I will prioritize the lives and safety of residents and fulfill the mission entrusted to the police.”

His major achievement includes saving a life by promptly performing CPR after securing the airway of a man who collapsed foaming at the mouth on the road near the 4th Hancheon Bridge in Yongdam-dong, Jeju City, around 5:30 a.m. on September 1, 2022, thereby contributing to establishing a police image that moves the public.

Jeju Police Chief Lee Sangryul said, “I ask you not to forget the mission of Jeju police to create a ‘Safer Jeju’ and a ‘Better Jeju to Live In’ and to become a ‘true warrior and guardian who protects the residents.’”
