Green ON is being conducted in cooperation with social enterprises in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, where SK Siltron's headquarters are located. The campaign involves upcycling discarded resources into products that are then provided to the elderly and children in the Gumi area.
To this end, since July of this year, SK Siltron has collected over 4,100 unused tumblers, eco-bags, and discarded umbrellas from its employees. The tumblers are upcycled into air-purifying companion tree kits, the eco-bags into pouches, and the discarded umbrellas into insulated bags.
In particular, the discarded umbrellas are reborn as insulated bags and are also used in social contribution activities to support meals for vulnerable groups in the Gumi area. Discarded umbrellas are a representative waste material with low recycling rates, and the amount discarded worldwide each year is enough to build 25 Eiffel Towers.
