Sang-ik Lee, Hampyeong County Governor, Joins Effort to Raise 10 Billion Won for Talent Development Fund
Donation of 46.29 Million Won in Salary Continues from First Half to Second Half
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Lee Sang-ik, the mayor of Hampyeong County, donated his entire salary for the second half of this year to participate in raising 10 billion KRW for the Talent Development Fund.
According to the county on the 25th, Mayor Lee Sang-ik donated 46.29 million KRW of his salary from July to December this year to the Hampyeong County Talent Development Fund.
The mayor promised to serve the residents without pay since his candidacy for mayor in the latter half of the 7th local government term in 2020, and has donated a total of 261.25 million KRW for local talent development during his tenure to date.
Mayor Lee Sang-ik said, “I donated my salary to provide an environment where our students, who will lead Hampyeong’s future, can focus on their studies without worrying about tuition fees,” adding, “I hope this will be a small help in nurturing local talent.”
Meanwhile, the Hampyeong County Talent Development Fund scholarship began in August 1993 as part of a county-wide patriotism movement and has continued to this day, aiming to raise 10 billion KRW by 2030.
