On the 21st, Eunpyeong-gu signed a business agreement with Shinhan Bank to promote the ‘AI Separate Waste Disposal Participation Point Reward Project.’ The core of the project is to provide My Shinhan Points to residents who participate in ‘AI Separate Waste Disposal’ to increase the participation rate in recycling separation.
The ‘AI Separate Waste Disposal Participation Point Reward Project’ is an expansion and enhancement of the ‘Eunpyeong Green Moa Moa’ project, where residents directly separate and dispose of recyclables at designated locations. AI-enabled separate waste disposal bins will be installed to help residents dispose of recyclables regardless of weather or time.
Under this agreement, Eunpyeong-gu will be responsible for developing and installing the AI recycling separate waste disposal bins and operating the point reward system. Shinhan Bank will provide its My Shinhan Points to residents participating in the AI separate waste disposal project.
The ‘AI Separate Waste Disposal Bin,’ which incorporates the latest technology, differs from existing collection machines that handle only one type of recyclable. It allows multiple types to be deposited at once. Even if transparent and colored PET bottles, cans, and paper packs are deposited together, the AI camera recognizes the number of each recyclable type, and an internal robot automatically sorts and stores them by type.
The district plans to swiftly complete the production and installation of AI separate waste disposal bins and the establishment of the point reward system by the first half of next year. The AI separate waste disposal bins will be installed at two new locations. It is expected that resident participation will increase further through AI separate waste disposal and point rewards.
