View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Cho Eung-cheon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 22nd regarding the judicial risks of Representative Lee Jae-myung, "Since no charges have been proven, I want him to fight confidently," but added, "This is not something the party should fight over."
In an interview with MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' Cho said, "Since he was overwhelmingly elected as the representative, no one can tell him to resign, but it is inappropriate for the party's official line to respond with 'It is not true' or 'It is a lie' regarding the prosecution's investigation," asserting this point.
Regarding the claim by fellow party member Kim Nam-guk that concerns or criticisms within the party about Representative Lee's judicial risks are a 'very small minority,' Cho countered, saying, "Kim's claim is actually the very small minority." Earlier, Kim stated on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' the day before, "Many of our party members seem to believe that we should unite tightly and fight against the 'prosecution's political oppression' and the 'attempt to kill Representative Lee Jae-myung.'"
Cho pointed out, "Our party is continuously shrinking and struggling. Since the Yoon Seok-youl government and the ruling party took power, I have not seen such poor performance. Nevertheless, the approval rating keeps rising." He continued, "I do not think the reason is that we are not united as a single front. It is because we have repeatedly lost nationwide elections without reflection or innovation and have failed to show vision and leadership."

Cho diagnosed, "The path to survival is the one I mentioned, but we keep going backward," and said, "I have no confidence that the Democratic Party can regain the people's trust and maintain its status of 169 seats in the upcoming general election." He emphasized that the party's decision not to respond to Representative Lee's judicial risks at the party level is "the only way for the party to avoid further division and move forward as a united front."
