HJ Heavy Industries Launches Separate CEO System for Construction and Shipbuilding Divisions, Yusangchul Appointed CEO of Shipbuilding Sector
Former Sole Representative Hong Mun-gi to Oversee Construction Division

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Sangcheol Yoo has been appointed as the CEO of the shipbuilding division at HJ Heavy Industries.
HJ Heavy Industries appointed Vice President Yoo as the new CEO and transitioned to a 'co-CEO' system for the shipbuilding and construction divisions.
Hong Moon-gi, who was previously the sole CEO, will focus on the construction division, while newly appointed CEO Sangcheol Yoo will oversee the shipbuilding division, concentrating on enhancing competitiveness in each field.
The company announced that it reorganized its structure from a single CEO system to a co-CEO system for each business division?construction and shipbuilding?to improve management efficiency and expertise.
HJ Heavy Industries stated that this transition to a co-CEO system aims to "streamline management decision-making and establish a responsible management system through professional managers, thereby revitalizing management and maximizing competitiveness in each business division."
Newly appointed CEO Sangcheol Yoo, who took office as the shipbuilding division CEO, is recognized as a financial expert with extensive experience in key positions. He has served as Head of Project Finance at Daewoo Securities, Head of IB Division at Leading Investment & Securities, Head of Future Strategy Office at Dongbu Construction, and CEO of WIK.
Since joining the management team after completing the acquisition and merger process with HJ Heavy Industries' creditors in August 2021, he has led the profitability of the two major business divisions and the management planning division as a financial expert, contributing to the normalization of management.
Based on his two years of experience leading the management normalization of Dongbu Construction, CEO Yoo is credited with spearheading the establishment of HJ Heavy Industries' management control system, improving cost management, and building processes.
He has also been recognized for his capabilities by achieving significant results across management, including the resumption of commercial shipbuilding in the shipbuilding division, acquisition of the satellite factory in Geoje, improvement of labor-management relations, and development of eco-friendly ships.
