View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] SK Signet, the No.1 market share holder in the U.S. ultra-fast charger market, announced on the 22nd that it will participate in the SK Group integrated exhibition hall at 'CES 2023,' the world's largest IT and electronics fair held in Las Vegas, USA, from January 5 to 8 next year (local time). SK Signet is a subsidiary of SK Inc., an investment company.
At CES 2023, SK Signet will unveil its new standard ultra-fast charger model 'V2' for the first time. The V2 product enables more stable and faster charging by improving the efficiency of the power module, a core component of electric vehicle chargers. By modularizing the main components in its design, it shortens production time and reduces costs, maximizing efficiency from the perspective of charging station operators.
Additionally, it is equipped with a battery diagnosis service function jointly developed with SK On, allowing the vehicle's battery status to be checked simultaneously during charging.
The product's exterior also enhances convenience for electric vehicle users. The luxurious and simple minimal design theme neutralizes the mechanical feel generally associated with electric vehicle chargers, making it notable from a styling perspective. The optional top banner on the product serves as an indicator that allows customers to check the charger’s usage status from a distance. A large 32-inch display, operable even at a low height to accommodate the mobility-impaired, can display video content, providing charging station operators with additional business opportunities such as advertising.
The V2 product, produced at SK Signet’s Texas factory, is the first ultra-fast charger manufactured in the U.S. and qualifies for subsidies under the U.S. 'National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program.' SK Signet’s Texas factory can produce over 10,000 units annually and is scheduled to begin pilot operations in the first quarter of next year. This allows proactive response to the Biden administration’s subsidy policy planned from 2023, aiming to further solidify its overwhelming No.1 position in the U.S. market.
The SK Group integrated exhibition hall is themed 'Together in action ? Moving further together toward a carbon-free future,' designed so visitors can directly experience and empathize with how SK Group’s net-zero technologies are applied in daily life and bring about change. SK Signet’s ultra-fast charger V2 will be displayed in the 'Clean Mobility' zone of the SK Group integrated exhibition hall, and SK Signet plans to provide detailed information about the V2 product through a media briefing in Las Vegas on January 5.
