View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Lee Young) announced on the 21st that it held a 'Meeting of Automotive Parts Companies to Strengthen Future Car Competitiveness' at the Chungcheong Training Center of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency in Cheonan.
This meeting of automotive parts companies was organized to review the current status of future car transition and structural innovation support achievements of automotive parts companies and to discuss future policies.
At the meeting, the achievements of structural innovation support were also disclosed. To promote business transition to future promising industries for SMEs, the government established a Structural Innovation Support Center earlier this year that integrates support for business transition, labor transition, and digital transition.
Through the Structural Innovation Support Center, 590 companies have so far received structural innovation consulting for new businesses such as future cars, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital platforms, and eco-friendly materials. As a result, the number of companies approved for business transition plans increased significantly from 114 last year to 305 this year.

Cho Joo-hyun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, "The automotive industry is a core industry leading the Korean economy, and the transition to future cars is a key task that the government and companies must jointly address as it will determine the competitiveness of our industry going forward. Based on the discussions at the meeting, we will remove obstacles hindering the transition to future cars and prepare support policies needed on the ground."
