Gwangju and Jeonnam Vocational Colleges Unite to Promote ESG Activation
‘Social Value Enhancement ESG Activation Forum and Agreement Ceremony’ Held
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Specialized colleges in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region have united to promote ESG activation.
According to Chosun Institute of Technology (President Jo Soon-gye) on the 21st, in the afternoon, presidents and department heads of 15 specialized colleges in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region gathered for the "Gwangju-Jeonnam Specialized Colleges ESG Activation Forum and Agreement Ceremony for Enhancing Social Value."
This agreement was prepared to spread the importance and interest of ESG throughout society through sharing and collaboration among regional universities, in line with the government's announcement of the "ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) Infrastructure Expansion Plan" and related ESG policy promotion, aiming to expand common social values such as ESG management.
The 15 specialized colleges in Gwangju-Jeonnam that signed the agreement are ▲Goguryeo University ▲Gwangyang Health University ▲Gwangju Health University ▲Christian Nursing University ▲Donggang University ▲Donga Health University ▲Mokpo Science University ▲Seoyoung University ▲Suncheon Jeil University ▲Jeonnam Science University ▲Jeonnam Provincial University ▲Chosun Nursing University ▲Chosun Institute of Technology ▲Cheongam University ▲Hanyoung University.
The event proceeded with a special lecture by Choi Bu-kyung, Research Director of the Korea ESG Management Institute, on "Strengthening University Competitiveness through ESG and ESG Platform," followed by the exchange of the "ESG Joint Practice Agreement" among the 15 specialized colleges in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region.
The agreement includes ▲establishing an ESG management initiative among specialized colleges in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region ▲joint promotion of ESG management projects ▲building networks such as working-level councils for smooth project implementation ▲developing and sharing project programs to spread ESG management achievements.
Jo Soon-gye, Chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Specialized Colleges Presidents' Council, said, "Amidst the strong ESG trend on campuses beyond companies, we gathered today to discuss and realize ESG values?eco-friendliness, social responsibility management, and governance improvement?that have emerged as core elements for human and social development. Through this opportunity, we will seek effective ways to respond to global climate change, deepening educational inequality, and polarization through sharing and collaboration among specialized colleges in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region."
