Gwangyang Sepung Industrial Complex 410,000㎡ Designated as a Port Hinterland Complex
About 410,000㎡ Designated Out of Total 2.43 Million㎡ at Sepung Industrial Complex
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seonghyun, YGPA) announced on the 21st that the Sepung Industrial Complex, purchased by YGPA, has been designated as a port hinterland district in accordance with the 4th Comprehensive Plan for Port Hinterland Development.
The site designated as the port hinterland district this time is about 410,000㎡ out of the total 2.43 million㎡ of the Sepung Industrial Complex, which YGPA purchased since 2019 considering location conditions, supply timing, economic feasibility, and future expansion potential to expand the port hinterland district.
The Sepung Port Hinterland District is an innovative case as the first domestic inland industrial complex to be purchased and designated as a port hinterland district by improving the system flexibly and efficiently.
This year, YGPA achieved success in attracting secondary battery, advanced chemical materials, and eco-friendly energy manufacturing companies through public recruitment on the initially secured site.
A YGPA official said, “With this designation of the port hinterland district, not only has the range of manufacturing companies’ industries expanded, but the conditions for high value-added logistics companies to settle have also been secured. We will continue to promote investment attraction of excellent manufacturing and logistics companies in the Gwangyang Bay area and make every effort to create stable port cargo volume and revitalize the regional economy despite worsening domestic and international conditions.”
