View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] The Gyeongsangnam-do Mayors and County Governors Council held its 87th regular meeting on the 21st at the Miryang Arirang Space Observatory, attended by 14 mayors and county governors from the province.
The meeting was presided over by Park Il-ho, mayor of Miryang and president of the Mayors and County Governors Council, and proceeded with reports on the operation of the Korea Mayors, County Governors, and District Heads Council and the Mayors and County Governors Council, deliberation on requests and cooperation matters from cities and counties, followed by promotion of events and festivals by each city and county.
After the meeting, attendees had time to tour the Miryang Arirang Space Observatory, the only domestic observatory specializing in exoplanets and extraterrestrial life.
Four proposals, including the adjustment of the nursing care benefit ratio for medical beneficiaries using home elderly welfare facilities, were passed after in-depth discussions, and the contents discussed at the council will be conveyed to the provincial government and central government ministries.
They sought cooperation for promotion and participation in city and county events such as the ‘19th Miryang Arirang Marathon’ scheduled for February next year, the 2023 Miryang Visit Year, the Hadong World Tea Expo, the Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships, and the 22nd Hapcheon Cherry Blossom Marathon.
The Gyeongnam Mayors and County Governors Council operates with the purpose of jointly responding to regional issues by mayors and county governors in the province and cooperating to enhance mutual communication and exchange among the 18 cities and counties, holding regular meetings once per quarter.
Chairman Park Il-ho said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the mayors and county governors who attended this regular meeting despite being busy with year-end tasks.”
