Jeju Fire Education Center Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in Fire Education Training Organization Evaluation
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Park Geun-o) announced on the 20th that the Jeju Fire Education Corps was selected as an excellent institution in the 1st National Fire Education and Training Institution Evaluation, proving that its education and training capabilities are among the top nationwide.
The National Fire Education and Training Institution Evaluation, introduced for the first time this year by the National Fire Agency, was established to confirm and evaluate the overall operation such as education quality and performance of fire education and training institutions nationwide, share best practices, and improve and supplement problems for the development of the fire education and training field.
As a result of the evaluation team from the National Fire Agency visiting and evaluating 14 fire education and training institutions nationwide, including Jeju, from the 7th to the 30th of last month, Jeju received the highest score among national fire education corps and the third highest score among the 14 institutions and departments nationwide, being selected as an excellent institution.
The evaluation team highly praised the Jeju Fire Education Corps for its systematic professional education and new recruit training resulting in very high completion rates and trainee satisfaction, its focus on strengthening education quality through securing instructors with professional qualifications and enhancing on-site response capabilities such as real fire training, and its proactive measures to prevent trainee safety accidents and respond to COVID-19.
Park Geun-o, Chief of the Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “This achievement is the result of continuously reviewing education and training policies and improving education quality. We will further strive to strengthen the professional capabilities of fire officers by expanding field-centered training and operation of specialized curricula.”
Meanwhile, the Jeju Fire Education Corps has been strengthening practical training centered on enhanced fieldwork standard education and training since this year, and is making efforts to cultivate professional firefighting talents strong in disaster sites by establishing a real fire training ground and newly opening specialized education courses.
