At the donation ceremony held the previous day, Han Sung-kwon, CEO of JW Holdings, handed over a donation of 30 million KRW to Lee Hak-jun, director of the Gwacheon City Disabled Welfare Center. The donation will be used to produce special shoes for disabled people who have difficulty walking. These shoes are custom-made to fit the individual’s foot shape and are more comfortable to wear than regular shoes, designed for disabled individuals facing walking difficulties due to rare diseases, developmental delays, severe disabilities, or foot deformities.
The JW Joy-Walking campaign is part of JW Group’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management initiative called the ‘JW Green Campaign.’ It is a step donation program involving employees from JW Holdings, JW Choongwae Pharmaceutical, JW Shinyak, JW Life Science, JW Medical, and 10 affiliated companies. In May, JW Choongwae Pharmaceutical donated 50 million KRW raised through the Season 1 campaign to the Gwacheon City Disabled Welfare Center.
This Season 2 campaign included not only step donations but also ‘plogging.’ Plogging is a compound word from the Swedish ‘plocka upp,’ meaning ‘to pick up,’ and the English ‘jogging,’ referring to the act of picking up trash while jogging. Since October, 1,208 JW Group employees and their families have participated in Season 2, recording a total of 230 million steps and successfully achieving the target of 200 million steps.
At the donation ceremony, JW Holdings was recognized by Gwacheon City for its contribution to the development of the Gwacheon community through JW Joy-Walking and received the Gwacheon Mayor’s Award.
