[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City in Jeollanam-do has been selected for a total of 13 sites in the 'Public Building Green Remodeling' contest project, including one main health center and 12 branch health centers, and will begin building remodeling to improve energy performance in the first half of next year.
According to the city on the 19th, the Green Remodeling project led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is a national Green New Deal policy project aimed at improving the performance of aging buildings to respond to climate change and prevent greenhouse gases.
The project remodels health centers, public medical facilities, and national/public daycare centers that have been completed for more than 10 years to the level of new buildings in terms of energy, living environment, new technology systems, and aesthetics.
With the success in the contest, the city secured 3.5 billion KRW in national funds and plans to invest a total project cost of 5 billion KRW for remodeling the main health center and 12 branch health centers, starting with detailed design in the first half of next year by adding 1.5 billion KRW in city funds.
The remodeling aims to improve energy use efficiency by installing insulation materials on interior and exterior walls, replacing high-performance windows, and installing high-efficiency heating and cooling systems and LED lighting in the buildings.
Additionally, indoor air quality system improvements and Cool Roof construction, which reflects the hot summer sunlight on the roof to lower the building temperature, will be carried out simultaneously.
Previously, in preparation for this contest project, the health centers achieved the result of having all 12 branch health centers, including the main health center, selected through demand surveys and systematic consulting for project discovery.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “Through the Green Remodeling project, we will enhance the energy performance and air quality of the entire health center space and do our best to ensure that citizens can enjoy satisfaction with health care services in an optimal environment.”
