This river maintenance evaluation comprehensively assessed the overall status of local river maintenance, including embankments, revetments, river facilities, waterfront space maintenance, and crackdowns on illegal activities in local rivers, through on-site evaluations twice in spring (May) and autumn (November) targeting 18 cities and counties in the province.
In particular, Miryang City invested about 9.2 billion KRW in 2022 for maintenance of river facilities and restoration from damage caused by heavy rains and Typhoon Hinnamnor, dredging sediment that obstructs water flow, and removal of obstructive trees across 47 local river sites (L=262.5 km) within the jurisdiction. This contributed to protecting citizens’ lives and property from river disasters as well as improving quality of life, earning high praise for river maintenance.
