According to Gyeongnam Province on the 19th, Governor Park received the ‘Good Local Government Leader Award’ in the local government leader category at the ‘2022 Person of the Year’ awards ceremony hosted by the Pan-Civil Society Coalition on the 14th.
The Pan-Civil Society Coalition is an alliance of over 250 civic organizations active in 12 fields including education, environment, welfare, culture, and women.
Every year, it selects exemplary figures and organizations from various sectors who have worked hard for civil society and South Korea, and recognizes their contributions through a year-end awards ceremony.
This year, the Pan-Civil Society Coalition announced that it selected about 50 individuals including politicians, basic and metropolitan local government leaders, and civic groups through the screening of the judging committee and the steering committee.
Along with Governor Park, the Good Local Government Leader Award was presented to Kim Younghwan, Governor of Chungbuk Province; Kim Taewoo, Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul; Park Gangsu, Mayor of Mapo District, Seoul; Lee Gapjun, Mayor of Saha District, Busan; and Jeong Youngcheol, County Governor of Yeongdong, Chungbuk.
According to the Pan-Civil Society Coalition, the local government leader category targets local government leaders who have devoted themselves to fostering a healthy civil society and have worked for conflict resolution, reconciliation, and integration in the nation and local communities.
This year, among metropolitan local government leaders, only Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, and Kim Younghwan, Governor of Chungbuk Province, received the honor.
