View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Coast Guard transported three emergency patients from island areas in Jeonnam to the mainland amid worsening weather conditions over the weekend.
According to the Mokpo Coast Guard Station on the 19th, at around 4:34 PM the previous day, a report was received that resident A (male, in his 50s) on Dochodo Island, Sinan-gun, had severely injured his hand while working with a grinder and needed to be transported to a large hospital.
The Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels and coastal rescue boats from the local police station, provided emergency treatment to A, and transported him to Namgang Pier on Amtaedo Island, where he was handed over to the 119 ambulance team at around 6:43 PM.
Earlier, on the 17th at 10:03 AM, the Coast Guard received a report that resident B (male, in his 80s) in the same area was showing suspected stroke symptoms and transported him to the mainland via patrol vessel. Then, on the 18th at 1:16 PM, resident C (male, in his 30s) showing symptoms of acute cholecystitis was urgently transported to the mainland.
All three emergency patients transported by the Coast Guard patrol vessels were reportedly moved to a large hospital in Mokpo for emergency treatment.

A Mokpo Coast Guard official said, “At the time of transport, there were strong winds of 14 to 16 meters per second and high waves at sea, making travel difficult. We are relieved that despite the worsening weather, all emergency patients were safely transported.”
