Idus Hosts the '2022 Handmade Awards'
200 Participants This Year, First Offline Event in 3 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Backpacker (CEO Kim Dong-hwan), the operator of 'Idus,' announced that it held the handmade awards ceremony '2022 Idus Handmade Award' at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul on the 15th.
Marking its 6th year, the Idus Handmade Award was attended by Idus artists and customers who have led the development and trends of the domestic handmade industry. This year's handmade award, held face-to-face for the first time in three years since COVID-19, selected 145 artists and 20 customers. The grand prize winner 'Atour' hires employees with disabilities and produces cosmetics, soaps, and moisturizers based on raw materials directly cultivated in Jeju.
Kim Dong-hwan, CEO of Backpacker, said, "Next year, we hope to hold a larger-scale event by inviting artists not only from Korea but also from overseas," adding, "We will do our best to become Idus, a service that leads the market with a sense of mission, creating a better environment for artists' activities and connecting with customers."

Meanwhile, celebrating its 8th anniversary this year, Idus has seen an increase in handmade artists joining from various fields every year, recently surpassing 34,000 artists, and the cumulative number of works has exceeded 470,000. The number of works this year, with more than 8,000 artists joining, a 32% increase compared to last year, also increased by about 100,000.
