The event was hosted and organized by the Korea Disabled Football Association (President Kim Gyu-jin) and sponsored by LIG, Hummel Korea, and the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation.
Attendees included Jeong Jin-wan, President of the Korea Disabled Sports Association, Choi Yong-jun, CEO of LIG Co., Ltd., and Lee Jong-hak, President of the Korea Deaf Sports Federation, among other officials.
The award categories for the Korea Disabled Football Awards were divided into five sections: 5-a-side B1 visual football, 5-a-side B2/B3 visual football, 7-a-side cerebral palsy football, 11-a-side hearing-impaired football, and 11-a-side intellectual disability football.
This year’s team awards were given to Seoul Promise Land, Chungbuk Gwanghwawon, Jeonnam Sporting, Yongin United Deaf Football Club, and Ulsan Dolphin Football Association by category.
The ‘LIG 2022 Ulsan National Disabled Football Championship,’ held in September for the first time in three years, saw the largest number of participants in a single event and has established itself as a representative competition of Korean disabled football.
The relationship between LIG and disabled football began when LIG started sponsoring the Korea Disabled Football Association, which was established in 2007 at the suggestion of LIG Chairman Koo Bon-sang. In April this year, on Disabled Persons Day, LIG, together with KB Insurance, donated 120 million won to the ‘Disabled Football Development Fund.’
Since the establishment of the Korea Disabled Football Association, the development fund donated by major affiliates such as LIG Nex1, LIG Systems, and Huseco, along with their employees, has reached a total of 1.5 billion won over 15 years up to early this year.
