The Family-Friendly Certification is granted through an evaluation process to companies and public institutions that exemplary operate family-friendly systems such as support for childbirth and child-rearing, flexible working hours, and fostering a family-friendly workplace culture. Based on family-friendly management, KT Alpha was recognized for its excellent work-life balance corporate culture and sustainable growth, earning the honor of receiving the Presidential Award twice, following the 2020 Presidential Award for Labor-Management Culture hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the first in the KT Group. Besides KT Alpha, KT M Mobile also received the Ministerial Award from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family within the KT Group.
KT Alpha is expanding its family-friendly culture by proactively introducing systems that exceed legal standards. Employees who are within 12 weeks of pregnancy or beyond 36 weeks can apply for a shortened working day of 3 hours, which is an extension from the standard 2 hours of reduced working hours during pregnancy. Additionally, family care leave can be used for up to 120 days annually, which is 30 days longer than the legally mandated 90 days.
Various systems are also being implemented to reduce working hours and improve work culture. Through the child care reduced working hours system, employees with children entering elementary school can start work at 10 a.m. and work 35 hours per week. Furthermore, a flexible working hours system tailored to employees’ lifestyles has been introduced, and on the last Wednesday of every month, employees can leave work one hour early.
