Signing of Business Agreement for Establishing the Busan Financial Hub Economic Cooperation Network

At 5 PM on the 15th, BIFC hosts 23 organizations including city, resident institutions, local universities, and related agencies
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 15th at 5 p.m., Busan City will sign a "Business Agreement to Establish an Economic Cooperation Network for Busan Financial Hub through Government-Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation" with BIFC resident organizations, financial-related institutions, local universities, and research institutes at the 3rd floor of the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) Kamco Maru.
The signing ceremony will be attended by Deputy Mayor Byeongjin Lee, KAMCO President Namju Kwon, and representatives from BIFC resident organizations, financial-related institutions including Kim Jonghwa, Director of the Busan International Finance Promotion Agency, and Dodeokhee, President of Korea Maritime and Ocean University, totaling representatives from 23 institutions.
The 23 participating institutions include Busan City, Korea Exchange, Korea Securities Depository, Korea Asset Management Corporation, Korea Housing Finance Corporation, Korea Ocean Business Corporation, BNK Busan Bank, Korea Technology Finance Corporation, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea Southern Power, Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation, Bank of Korea Busan Branch, Global Fintech Industry Promotion Center, Financial Supervisory Service Financial Hub Support Center, Marine Finance Comprehensive Center, Busan International Finance Promotion Agency, Pusan National University, Pukyong National University, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Dongseo University, Dong-A University, Dong-Eui University, and Busan Research Institute.
This agreement aims to faithfully fulfill the role of a partner for mutual growth by supporting local business development and talent cultivation through government-industry-academia-research cooperation, fostering Busan as an Asian financial hub city, and promoting the development of the signatory institutions.
Specific agreement details include ▲ Participating institutions will discover and promote projects through their research functions to advance government-industry-academia-research cooperation, build and operate a solid information platform supporting local talent and businesses ▲ Busan International Finance Promotion Agency will support project funding as the secretariat ▲ Universities will support project discovery and participation through affiliated research institutes and personnel ▲ Research institutes will actively participate in joint research projects to revitalize Busan’s financial industry and financial hub.
At the signing ceremony, three joint cooperation projects through government-industry-academia-research collaboration will be announced.
First, ▲ Korea Asset Management Corporation and Busan International Finance Promotion Agency will jointly present "System Establishment Plan and Related Legal Review for Digital Asset Custody and Disposal Services," ▲ Pukyong National University, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Korea Exchange, BNK Busan Bank, Korea Ocean Business Corporation, Korea Technology Finance Corporation, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Busan International Finance Promotion Agency will jointly present "Enhancement Plan for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Capabilities of Busan Companies," and ▲ Busan Research Institute, Dong-Eui University, and Busan International Finance Promotion Agency will jointly present "Analysis of the Ripple Effects of Public Institution Relocation on the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Metropolitan Economic Area."
Lee Hae-woo, President of Dong-A University, said, "To foster Busan as an international financial hub, we will actively cooperate with the Busan International Finance Center and research institutes and fulfill the role of a partner for growth," adding, "We will not only actively participate in projects but also nurture and produce talent equipped with advanced financial knowledge."
Lee Seung-woo, President of Korea Southern Power, said, "We have launched multifaceted support projects such as the innovative procurement package support project, clean energy technology innovation enterprise fostering project, and safety infrastructure construction project to bring smiles to local talent, growth to local SMEs, and vitality to the local financial industry," adding, "We will take the lead in creating a dynamic Busan through government-industry-academia-research cooperation."
