UAE Government Official Sent to Prosecutors on Charges of Sexual Harassment Against Korean Woman
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A government official from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who attended an international conference held in Seoul is under prosecution investigation for sexually harassing a Korean woman.
On the 15th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that it is investigating an incident in which a local secretary, Mr. A, who attended the conference in Seoul last month together with the UAE Minister of Health, sexually harassed a Korean female staff member.
Mr. A is reported to have intentionally made physical contact with the victim during a commemorative photo session on the last day of the event, which was on the 30th of last month.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency assessed the situation on the day and requested a police investigation. The police transferred Mr. A to the prosecution on the 9th on charges of forcible sexual harassment.
