About 150 participants attended the second Al Faw Port International Port Conference this year, including representatives from the Iraqi Parliament, Ministry of Transportation, academia, Turkey's Ministry of Transportation, Abu Dhabi Ports Authority, MSC, and logistics companies from Singapore.
At the request of the conference organizer, GCPI, BPA presented the operational status and development cases of Busan Port, which has grown into a global transshipment port.
Officials from Daewoo E&C and SM Line Gyeongin Terminal, members of the K-Consortium formed to participate in the Al Faw Port operation project, also attended the event.
During the conference, the K-Consortium, including BPA, and GCPI held two practical workshops on the operation plan for five berths at Al Faw Port, explaining the proposal prepared by the Korean side and discussing future consultation schedules.
The Al Faw Port development project is a large-scale initiative by the Iraqi government to invest 53 trillion KRW in phases to develop Al Faw Port, located in Basra Province in the south, into one of the world's top 12 ports by 2041. Daewoo E&C from Korea is participating in dredging, reclamation, and infrastructure construction such as connecting roads.
