View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The labor sector, including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), has filed a complaint against Han Ki-jung, Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission, on charges of leaking official secrets.
On the 14th, the KCTU, the Public Transport Workers' Union, and the Construction Industry Federation held a press conference titled "Complaint Against the Illegal and Unfair Intervention by the Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission" in front of the Government Complex Gwacheon in the morning.
The labor sector, including the KCTU, filed the complaint on the grounds that Chairman Han exerted influence and predetermined the outcome by making statements that defined the Construction Workers' Union and the Cargo Solidarity as business entities ahead of a full meeting on union-related cases. On the 2nd, Chairman Han stated in a briefing, "The Fair Trade Commission judges truck owners affiliated with the Cargo Solidarity as business operators, and similarly judges members of the Construction Workers' Union as business operators."
The KCTU criticized, "The Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission should uphold fairness and neutrality, but he himself broke the investigation principles and made statements influencing the resolution," adding, "This is the behavior of the Fair Trade Commission that abandoned the principle of fairness by viewing unions with bias." The investigation principle refers to neither confirming nor denying ongoing cases under investigation.
